HOW WE OPERATE

The Kiran Anjali Project links up with secular organizations in India that work within our mission to invest in educational programs in India to equip girls to define their own destiny. We envision an India where all girls have equal opportunity to quality education. We provide grants to our partner projects to help them serve more children.

We have a personal relationship with the projects we serve and know the name of every child we help.

Indian nonprofits wishing to apply for grants from The Kiran Anjali Project must reside and operate in India and have the ability to receive funds from overseas.  The first step is filling out our Pre-Grant Questionnaire.

FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY

The Kiran Anjali Project has earned the GuideStar Platinum Seal of TransparencyThe Kiran Anjali Project works with partners in India who are committed to financial transparency. Prior to approving a grant, the projects work with us to provide an on-site review of their bookkeeping records by an Indian certified accountant employed by The Kiran Anjali Project.

Additionally there is a review of quarterly bookkeeping records by our board’s treasurers who are trained CPA’s in the United States and India, an annual review of audited accounts and disclosure of funding sources, and annual site visits by one or more of our board members.

The Kiran Anjali Project is a registered 501(c)(3) charity.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Linda has worked as a television producer and teacher in different parts of the world and has worked with refugee and immigrant populations in the U.S. and Canada.

Born in Mumbai, Minali moved to the United States at the age of 17 to pursue her college education. She brings over 20 years of experience in the medical device industry, with expertise in global trade compliance, business transformation, and international strategy—including more than 15 years at 3M Healthcare.

Now based in Mercer Island, Washington, Minali is taking a purposeful pause from her professional career to focus on family and community. She is passionate about creating spaces that bring people together and supporting initiatives that empower women and girls through education and opportunity.

Minali believes meaningful change begins with a single conversation—and she’s always ready to start one. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending quality time with her husband and three children.

Khadija Osman is a marketing and communications professional with a background in writing, publication, and humanitarian work. With a deep commitment to child and orphan wellness, she has spent her career using the power of language to increase awareness and understanding, share stories and inspire support.

She is honored to support the mission of the Kiran Anjali Project and to help advance education and equity for girls in India.

In her free time Khadija enjoys cooking and baking, writing, and spending time outdoors – all while constantly brainstorming ways to utilize creativity in NGO work.

Sri Ryali is an experienced finance and operations executive in the biopharmaceutical industry, and he currently serves as Chief Financial Officer of Codexis, Inc., a publicly traded enzyme engineering company. Sri earned a BA from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a double major in Economics and Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Suzy Khendry is a thoughtful and dynamic leader with more than two decades of experience designing events and strategies that leave a lasting impact. Her career spans global event execution, strategic business development, and startup leadership—all underscored by a passion for creating meaningful, human-centered experiences.

Whether she’s building partnerships across borders or championing diversity and inclusion in Washington State schools, Suzy leads with empathy, clarity, and purpose. Her two Golden Acorn Awards reflect her unwavering commitment to service and community. With every endeavor, she brings people together, drives real results, and proves that the most powerful outcomes begin with a personal connection.

She lives in the beautiful PNW with her husband and two boys.

Sarika Sikka is the Western Regional Manager for a Biopharma Sales Team in the Life Sciences Industry. She lives in the greater Seattle Area with her husband, Ronnie and two children Aashna and Dilan. Sarika has demonstrated success in volunteering and fundraising for community and educational programs throughout the Issaquah School District. Her passion continues to further education for the underserved, especially when it comes to girls’ education. She is especially interested in continuing her volunteer work through the Kiran Anjali Project where she can help young girls thrive and gain equality.

Born in India, raised in the Middle East, and trained in Architecture & Design with college degrees from London, and the United States – Tanya is truly a global citizen.

With a strong belief that healthy built environments, access to education for everyone, and the empowerment of girls and women can change the world, she has been a supporter of many community and educational initiatives over the years.

She is honored to continue making a difference and support her passion for service with The  Kiran Anjali Project.

A graduate of The Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Washington;  she currently leads her architectural practice in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, where she lives with her husband and twin daughters.

When she’s not working/juggling 100 balls / or scheduling logistics for her family, she can be found hiking, swimming, reading,  traveling, and walking her beloved furbaby.
Her personal motto is. ” One Life. Live it.”

BOARD EMERITUS

Sheryl has been a social worker specializing in children’s mental health for 25 years. She has worked in schools, hospitals, and outpatient clinics in both the US and Canada. While in India on sabbatical in 2007 she pursued global social work interests through volunteer work.

Mallika has more than 15 years of experience in the finance and accounting sector handling many global clients. She has held management positions in India and the U.S., including ten years at KPMG in their auditing, taxation and corporate advisory services departments. Mallika is a CPA, member of California Board of Accountancy and a Chartered Accountant, and member of the ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India).

Born in India and raised in the U.S., Nita returned to India as an adult with her two young children and witnessed the lack of opportunity for the underprivileged to obtain a quality education, especially girls. She assisted in forming Chaaya Charitable Trust, the founding organization for Carnation Learning Center. Nita holds a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Non-Profit Management from the University of Southern California. She has held progressive roles in various Fortune 500 companies as well as start-ups. She currently resides in the Netherlands.

OUR TEAM

Alexandra has worked around the world for over twenty years as an advocate and ambassador towards empowering and fulfilling the potential of marginalised groups. Engaging with diverse institutions including International Planned Parenthood Federation, Gates Foundation and Love Matters India, Alexandra has developed an understanding of the power of education in creating economic opportunities and stability for girls and women. Alexandra’s passion for India began growing up in London surrounded by the diverse people, languages and foods from across SE Asia and was further ignited when travelling and working in Arpora, Goa.  

Alexandra is excited about becoming Kiran Anjali Project’s first Executive Director and supporting education for underserved communities, especially in areas where wealth is disproportionately dispersed such as Hyderabad and Bangalore.   

Alexandra promotes grassroots leadership development and systems creating capacity building programs to dismantle discriminatory social structures. She truly believes in The Kiran Anjali Project’s mission to provide students from underserved communities with higher quality schooling, STEM programming and employment opportunities to inspire a cultural shift.  After relocating from the UK, Alexandra now resides in Seattle and enjoys outdoor adventures with her young family.

Divya earned her Master’s of Social Work from Indira Gandhi National Open University. She comes with 4 years of experience in the education and health sector, and CSR funding. She is also a Gandhi Fellow which helped her further understand the grassroots issues in India.

She has designed and implemented many projects in both Government and private schools in India such as awareness on menstrual hygiene, life skills, E-waste, and substance abuse. She also successfully executed a pilot project on how dance movement can impact the self-esteem of girls which will inculcate other life skills. She has mobilized CSR funds for an NGO and has worked closely with corporates to implement projects on the ground.

Divya believes that an empowered girl is the most effective catalyst for sustainable change and educating them is the first step.

Shubha holds an MBA in Marketing from Boston College with a prestigious Dean’s Scholarship Award. She serves as a Marketing and Development Assistant at The Kiran Anjali Project, actively implementing mission-driven initiatives.

For nearly a decade she has worked with firms committed to social impact. Her experience in managerial and leadership positions in marketing, entrepreneurship, and project management spans across organizations in  India and the USA. She currently resides in Seattle, Washington.

Shubha is passionate about girls’ education and equal rights. She aims to use her skills to empower underserved girls and women in India, providing them with equal opportunities for independent and fulfilling lives.
